Caledonia is AWESOME in May
25 May 2016 19:00 - 25 May 2016 20:30
The Business Hub, 9793 Hwy #8, Caledonia, NS
All our monthly meetings are awesome, but this one was extra special. There were multimedia pitches, live seafood, perfume in the air and in a first, the pitch was moved outside into a glorious sunny evening (and how did they get rid of the blackflies?!?) And great local turnout. Thanks Caledonia… you folks are awesome!
The pitches were:
– Romantic Science Perfumery — Justine and Kenton are in the early stages of establishing an all natural, Nova Scotia products based perfumery. They were pitching to use the money to help market their business. Awesome samples!
– WINNER — Campfire Circle — Queens Manor, a Senior Home in Liverpool has 61 residents. They pitched the idea of a propane based outdoor firepit where residents could meet to share stories, sing songs and socialize. They were *so* excited when they won! The pit should be in by this weekend
– Lobster Talks — Sarah Allan spends several months of the year lobster fishing with her husband. She’s had very positive feedback from groups where she’s shared her experiences of being on the water, being a fisherman and live examples of what they catch. Her pitch was to use the money to fund visits with her props to five nursing homes along the South Shore. She had everyone’s interest when the live lobsters were passed around!
– Disc Golf — Matt Duggan is a Teacher at Forest Heights and he has a passion for Disc Golf. Participants use a frisbee like disc and throw it into a metal cage ‘hole’. Its a sport that is accessible to all, no special equipment required and can be setup just about anywhere. The sport is in the early stages in Nova Scotia and Matt is trying to setup a ‘nine hole’ course in Chester Basin. His pitch would use the funds to pay for two ‘holes’. Matt had the entire room get up and go outside where four volunteers played one hole.
